Description

Professor Lucas Lepri teaches a variation of a butterfly sweep. The opponent has both knees on the mat and Lucas keeps his foot on the hips to maintain distance. The opponent moves in and grips the back of Lucas’ neck. Lucas removes the arm by controlling the wrist and the elbow. He pushes the elbow into the opponent and grips the back of the neck with his other hand. In this variation, the opponent defends by gripping over Lucas’ arm. Lucas releases the grip on the neck and uses that hand to grip the opponent’s bicep. He pulls the arms and uses the same side foot to hook the leg. The other foot is placed on the mat and bent to the side. Lucas, in one motion uses the hook on the leg to lift the opponent as he pulls him to the side with the arm control. This sweeps the opponent over and Lucas is able to stay on top.
