Professor André Gois teaches how to perform the long step pass when the opponent has the reverse de la riva. André starts to pass using the knee cut, but is not able due to the opponent having the reverse de la riva and pushing on the chest. André adjusts his grips and brings his outside knee close to the opponent. He then drops his body and steps out with his knee cut leg. This puts André perpendicular to the opponent where he then moves in and goes to the side control position.
