Professor Lucas Lepri shows how to counter a butterfly sweep attempt. The opponent has established the butterfly position and starts to pull Lucas in. He raises Lucas up using his legs in an attempt to sweep. As the opponent raises Lucas, Lucas uses his hands to post on the mat and then shifts his hips to one side. On the side he shifts to, he drops his knee down and starts to slide to the side. Lucas maintains this position. The opponent now attempts to push Lucas away and Lucas takes advantage of this to step back and go to the other side. From here, Lucas controls the back as he passes and stays in the side control position.
