Professor Lucas Lepri shows what to do when the opponent defends against the back take shown in the previous technique. The situation begins with Lucas inverting the opponent from open guard. He grips the back of the pants and cups the knee, falling to his elbow and side and gripping the side of the opponent’s gi while maintaining the pants grip. As Lucas comes up to attempt the back take, the opponent is able to open his knee and block Lucas’ chest. Lucas releases the pants grip and lifts his hips to create space to push the opponent’s knee down and complete the pass to side control.
